This project is a furniture design and making project which our team desided to construct a chair using AR fibrication technique.
Grasshopper is used to generated different prototypes and one of them is selected for further development. By simplified the model in Maya, a simple shape of the chair has been produced. Different construction techniques are researched and tested. Finally, based on the processed chair model, sepecific techniques are selected and modeled in the model with details.
Final stage is to using Fologram and Hololens as AR assistants to guide construction, including bending steel bar and wood panels with specific curvetures.

Design Process

we used grasshopper to generate original chair shape, then, we simplified and remodeled the chair using surfaces. After sevral times of simplify and remodel the chair, a workable model is generated. We then added details of the chair and considering using different materials.

Construction Process

Based on the final design model, we developed the construction detailes in Rhino model and estimate the budget.
