Santa Monica Overdrive Park is a park based on the transformation of the Santa Monica Airport that seamlessly integrates man-made and natural elements in depth and draws inspiration from the iconic artist Jack Pollock. The design language of the park is heavily influenced by the style and aesthetic of Pollock's work, which has a strong rhythm and order in its apparent chaos, which we have attempted to translate into a landscape that feels both organic and deliberate. The park's landscape is shaped by a combination of deliberate human intervention and the natural processes that have shaped the area over time, creating the best harmonious blend of the two worlds.

The park is positioned as a service park. Taking into account the urban functions and the people living around the park, the park is equipped with a small stage, an art gallery, an observatory and other artificial functional areas. The park roads are connected to both sides of the park and can be used to some extent as functional urban roads. The natural landscape is composed of rocks, plants, and ponds in a variety of different spatial forms for rest and play.
Another inspiration behind the park's design is the concept of the steampunk movement. We took inspiration from this aesthetic and incorporated it into the design language of the park to create a landscape that is both futuristic and timeless. Steampunk-inspired elements can be seen throughout the park, from the pipes that run along the pathways to the sculptural elements that dot the landscape.

Another key design element of the Santa Monica Overdrive is the use of a figure-ground design. This design approach defines the planned design of the entire park through the integration of metal piping with a steampunk style. Specific materials are then used in contrasting colors and textures to create a sense of depth and visual interest. The park's landscape features a variety of different elements, including gentle hills, rocky outcroppings, and winding roads, all of which have been carefully designed to create a sense of exploration and discovery.

The park's plants has also been carefully planned to create a range of different textures and colors. The plants were allowed to grow and evolve naturally, resulting in a landscape that feels both wild and carefully crafted. The use of contrasting plant species creates a dynamic visual experience for visitors as they explore the park.

Overall, Santa Monica Overdrive is a park that celebrates the harmonious blend of man-made and natural elements and draws inspiration from iconic artists Jack Pollock and Steampunk to create a natural landscape that is both futuristic and timeless.
